Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?
Well, obviously YOU wouldn't but not everyone has an extra $100.00 bucks or feels that the extra storage is worth the cost.

You upgraded RAM and HD through Apple?
Yes. There are upgrade options on line, with extra discount for ed purchases.

Hmm mixed feelings about this.
I want them to be successful, but I also want:
- DVD extras
- HD resolution
- burnable to disc
- rental system
I hope success won't lull them into thinking the current restrictions are ok. :(
Oh well, I can stick with DVDs.
You want HD quality downloads but you can "stick" with DVD's? Do you understand how much information there is for a HD movie? Try one of the new disc formats, but you want to be able to download it? Crazy!
I agree on the rental system however, I wouldn't mind renting but it would have to be cheaper of course.

The true irony here is your blatant assumption that is based on nothing more than a "gut feeling".
ok... so will you answer my question then please?

These are products that are now competing directly with the products or the PC industry.....
Apple has always competed directly with PCs and related products.
.....now that Apple is using Intel Processors, all they really have going for them are their ability to run OS X and their design
When were those not the only distinctions Apple had? I mean, who really bought Macs because they had processors based on a different ISA?

May be Apple also figured if they settle now, may be Creative could use this precedence to sue Microsoft and other competitors over their UI and make them pay for licenses too.
That would put a nice hit on the smaller competitors. Nice move, Apple!

Then show me a single modern GPU displaying more than 2560x1600 on a single display. I'd love to see it.
You mean this one, a single card, running FarCry at 3840 X 2160 almost two years ago. Since this was almost two years ago, I'm sure its a little dated. :)

Censorship! Don't do it, Apple!
What, its ok for Apple to censor based on its whims, but not the government?
Actually I think they're both wrong. Shouldn't censor. Once the government starts censoring what information was can access, what else is next?
Bleep out phone calls is someone mentions a DUI checkpoint?
Remove all DUI checkpoint discussions from Google? Remove them entirely from the web?
Censorship is a slippery slope. Apple has invited this level of control because of their own Orwellian rules on the app store.
So much for freedom of speech. We are losing all our supposed 'freedoms' in this country at an alarming rate, and few care or notice.

I'm salaried (aka "Exempt") in my job. We used to clock in and out but they made us quit several years ago and now there is no tracking of our hours. I was told at the time it was a legal requirement that we not be made to clock in and out.
In any event, there are rules defining what jobs are and are not eligible as exempt. There are lots of references online with information.
http://www.ehow.com/facts_5179644_exempt-salary-vs_-non-exempt.html
Btw, the unemployment rate is NOT 8.9 percent.. its a lot higher than that and in my state its about equal with all the other states in this blasted union.

Apple goes to all sorts of lengths to protect media files with FairPlay, yet they don't care about stuff like this. Shows where their focus is; protecting their own stuff and not giving a flying f--- about the user.
Apple has never cared about the user, this is not news. Apple only care about one thing: money
As for being tracked, I couldn't care less. In the UK, there are so many CCTV cameras, you can't do anything without it being recorded. No point getting upset about it...

The only downside to the bumped up resolution is the increased download time. Last year, I was able to download Battlestar Galactica eps in about 20 minutes... the other night I downloaded a higher res episode and it took nearly an hour... granted, my DSL isn't the best in the land and the quality was noticably better, although the previous resolution was still fine (I have my iMac hooked via DVI to a 46" Samsung DLP HDTV... front row lets me select and play the shows from my couch) but the extra time caused my wife to say "well, lets just download it overnight and watch it tomorrow"... not a huge deal or anything, but a slight step backwards from the convenience angle. It's too bad you can't choose the resolution you want to download at.
Maybe they could make iTunes let you start playing your TV show download before it's finished, like they let you do with movies?

I think I really figure it out now.
FrontRow/AirPort Express/iTunes-downloadable/iPod-docking station Media Center device. It will sync your iPod wireless too.
Here's why...
1) People are buying iPods and iTunes' videos already at 320x240 and being profitable; no reason to change
2) People can now stream music, videos (home or purchased), pics to their TV wirelessly
3) People can now sync music, videos (home or purchased), pics to their iPod wirelessly
4) This is NOT meant to compete with Blockbuster. It's simply bringing the computer's content to the living room...not the computer itself.
How much do you want to bet that this 'special event' will be streamed using this device. You heard it here!

Welcome to the Mac Family, bring your friends. It is always more fun when the family grows. We are vocal, but we have a reason for it. We are proud of Apple and we want them to continue to do better, it is a win win for us that get better and more useful products, and it is better for Apple as we carry the word.
