Someone needs to bookmark this thread so we can come back to it in 2015. If there's a new CEO (or group of CEO's) for Apple and Nokia/MS have a brilliant partnership, I don't see where the humor is. Four years is a hell of a long time for a new OS to mature.

I can belief this. Nokia is a strong brand and will definitely have a large impact on WP7 marketshare. The phone market does'nt revolve around the States.
Completely agree... Cost is a huge factor that will really come in to play here.

Yes, built-in 3G is more costly to buy, usually locked into a particular carrier (what do you mean I can't switch my 1500$ laptop to a new carrier ?) and with the Rev D's 2nd USB port being next to a display port, the "extension" cable is moot.
So you are quite missing tons of things. The current scheme of "get a stick from your carrier" is the best as far as costs and carrier non-attachment go. I tether to my iPhone using Bluetooth anyhow, making the USB thing even more moot.
Built-in 3G is overrated.
If you build a laptop, you're not forced to lock it to a carrier.
Cellular sticks suck.
At the least, all laptops should have ExpressCard.

Well, wasn't the iMac G5 restricted to 2GB, yet it was a 64-bit processor?
The last revision of the iMac G5 (the one with the iSight) had the option of 2.5GB of RAM. It had 512MB built-in and you could option a 2GB stick for the 1 open slot it had.
That 2GB of course cost an arm and a leg...

Depends where you work. My job, I get 10 holiday days, and 20 vacation/sick leave days. But at former jobs, I got no paid time off.

Just downloading some of these HD trailers takes forever, and they look terrible on the displays at the apple store (tried it there only because I thought it was my computer, not the technology).
What the hell are you talking about? I don't know what HD trailers you were downloading, but they look fantastic on my screen. Also, yes, some of them take forever if you're on a slower connection but it sounds as though everyone's banking on broadband these days; it has become the rule, not the exception.

Will be interesting to see Apple's response to this. I don't necessarily mind the data being collected for things like find my iPhone and forensics but I'd like it to be very well secured.

I'm with you. As a MVNO, Apple could kick Helio's ass. Maybe they are becoming an MVNO and they're leasing their network time from Cingular? That makes sense, don't it?

Buy ringtones at the iTunes store, or just use any song in your library as your ringtone, or write your own ringtone in Garageband.

I like having the ability with my SE T637 that I surf for free midi files, download them to my mac, connect to the phone via bluetooth and upload the midi's - voila, free ringtones. Sure, some of them are cheesy, but I'm not paying $1 per ringtone.

Samsung running Android look very very similar to Apple's, to the point where it causes confusion in the marketplace for consumers. I've seen several people mistake one of these things for an iPhone because they look that similar. It's a combination of Google's Android and Samsung's hardware.
This confusion is no accident, that was the intent all along. There is no reason why they could not create their own look and feel... change it up enough so it's not an obvious copy. Other handset makers have been able to do that.
Anyone who is stupid enough to confuse a Galaxy S with an iPhone shouldn't own a smartphone anyway. All they have to do is turn over the freaking phone and notice that big Samsung logo to know it's not an Apple product.

I'm not sure why Aperture gets knocked by so many people, it seems pretty impressive for a new comer in this market.
I don't want to speculate what they will be announcing on the 24th, but I'll be anxiously waiting. :)

The 21.5" has thunderbolt too....does that mean you can use it as an external display as well? :-)
Likely not. The last 21.5 had Mini Display Port, and could not be used as an external monitor. Would be nice though.

I absolutely agree. This is the same reason why I was hoping the USB 3.0 would be on this version. I realize now that is almost certainly not going to happen. I just thought that with so many PC's (including some PC laptops) already offering USB 3.0 that maybe the brand spankin' new iMac might be so equipped.

Even with all of the debates that are going on in this thread, I am excited about this update. I have been waiting for the new iMac. I am currently using a 1.42GHz eMac G4 that I purchased new in ~ 2005. It still runs great and I have no complaints with it. I do believe that I will still wait for the early issues that come with any new machine to be resolved and for the newest version of OS X.
