Microsoft doesn't sell hardware. Apple does and mobile devices make up a large part of Apple's sales and revenue. They are a tiny blip on the radar percentage wise as far as pc's are concerned, no matter how you spin the numbers. 90% >4.6%. And yes, Apple makes a tremendous amount of money on the products they sell, far more than anyone else, and I realize that most of you take a tremendous amount of personal pride in the money Apple makes. And as a consumer, I find that absolutely bizarre. But that's just me.

Apparently Sting is to be involved in the launch of the brown Zune. 5% will go to fight diarrhoea in Africa.
;)
(PS don't flame me. Diarrhoea, unlike the brown zune, is not a laughing matter.)
I thought "African Diarrhoea" was the technical name of the Zune's brown colour. You wait and see, next year we'll get a new colour from MS for the Zune - "Delhi Belly Explosion" a sort of greenish-brownish-orange...
Ah dysentery... it's funny on so many levels. ;)

Do any of you whiners realize that Verizon is trying to start their own music service to compete with an "iTunes + iPhone". Go to the Verizon Wireless website and click on Call My Music. Cingular and T-Mobile USA have no such service.

Apple should know all about trademark violations (eg: iPhone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_iPhone), iOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisco_IOS), Mighty Mouse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Mighty_Mouse)) but App Store is too generic. Like if instead of "iPod", they called it "MP3 Player" and then suing Creative or Archos when they release a device advertised as an MP3 Player or called "Creative MP3 Player" for instance.

What is your firearms experience? How many times have you been shot at? Do you think the security guard make a Hollywood head shot?
I'm amazed that so many people are basing their judgment of the "head shot" on 3rd person shooter games and CSI. In the real world, anyone with training will always be aiming for the center of mass, and where he actually hits depends more on luck than anything else.
In other words, just because the criminal was hit in the head, doesn't mean that the security guard was aiming for his head. A mall security guard with a pistol shooting at a moving target during a gunfight doesn't have the accuracy of a Marine sniper shooting a sniper rifle at a stationary target.

Please bring back the 24"! 21" - too small. 27" - too big. 24" - just right!
I'm sticking with my 24" Core2Duo until a new 24" model is released.
I use a 24" Dell monitor alongside my 27" iMac, and physically the 27" is hardly any bigger. The main difference is that the 27" is much higher resolution, but that's a useful for fitting more on the screen.

They had 2.9% of the worldwide mobile phone market for 2010.

Thanks for that, I wondered what the latest figures were.
I'm sure Apple are thrilled with those numbers (I mean it).
At the profit margin they make on iPhones they will be happy with that sort of figure for years to come.

You're right it's just like the ages old Mac verses PC debate can't really compare them.
It really comes down to want you need to do and how much you are prepared to spend.
It's not even the technology's price that's the difference, that's decided by another company. it's the technologies that are hard to compare.

I'm not sure why there is so much argument about the term "app". The trademark is for "App Store" not for "app". It would be like arguing that "Burger King" is not a valid trademark because "burger" is a generic term.
What about "Burger Store" ?
What about "Burger Store" ?

..Green Peace. Is this another manifestation of "End Time" thinking? Unbelievable. From what does it stem from?
What can be offensive about being "green"?
There's exploitation, war and hate mongering everywhere you look and you come to a Mac community forum and you find out you hate your neighbours. Neo-liberal capitalist scum. Amazing. Mightilly pissed off with a lot of you.

Windows are generic. More so than app store. Just took at your browser and see where it says open a new window. This is not specific to only windows OS.
I am old enough to remember the complaints of Microsoft calling there OS windows when they were not the first to create the concept.
But "Windows" are not operating systems. The "App Store" is an app store.

yeah... and what about the past years when they have run the promotion and not added newly released product to the rebate? thats what i was referring to.
And this is why I say it can go either way. The release of the C2D mac systems are not dependent upon the rebate IMO. It might happen or it might not. My guess is that Apple is not releasing their new computers based upon when the rebate ends. They'll simply release them, and if they happen to fall within the rebate period, that's not necessarily by design. But it is our good fortune. :)

I never said my actions were morally right. I'll admit that my actions are probably very immoral, and ethically wrong. The simple fact is I don't care about how people view my morality or ethics. Why should I care what people think of me. I never said it bothers me that you guys are not agreeing with me, all I said is that I find it laughable.

This is the same attitude that people like Bernie Madoff, Kenneth Lay, etc had as they totally scammed thousands of people out of billions of dollars.

This is great news, however, I still have a hard time talking myself into paying $10 to $15 for a DRM-"infected" movie file.
1) I cannot sell it or give it away as a gift.
2) I can't share it with a friend.
3) Video quality is not that great.
4) It has no special bonus features as does a DVD.
5) etc.
I think there needs to be a big price drop AND/OR some type of subscription model for this movie download stuff. Why pay that much $$ for something I'll watch only once or twice???!!!

I just posted earlier today about how I was waiting for the Apple iPhone to upgrade my RAZR... but honestly thats it?
I feel like the only one who looks at that design and says "blah". Its a horrible design for a phone. Its a nano with a bigger screen. Thats it. There are 1000 phones out there now that look just like this.
I can't believe this is what we've been waiting for years and god knows how much in R&D for?
I'm a much bigger fan of the iChat Mobile. (I know its fake but its a much better idea than this. Granted it needs some work too...)

Not good. I need an explanation.
What? You think GM's OnStar, and the other car manufacturer's systems, don't keep a record of exactly where your automobile has been? All cars have black boxes these days. You think your bank doesn't know where you've been and what you've bought? You think the government, and most companies, don't already know more about you than you do yourself, like where you go, what you buy, who your friends are, what political persuasion you are?
